Class victory for Farnbacher Racing’s Lexus RC F GT3

Dominik and Mario Farnbacher finished the third round of the VLN Endurance Championship at the Nürburgring with an “SPX” class victory and sound 13th position in the overall classification.

“Our Lexus ran like Swiss clockwork and completed the 4-hour race without any real hitches. As we’re still only in the development phase, every finish is like a victory for us. We were up against the elite of GT3 motorsports who were using this meeting to prepare for the ADAC 24 Hour Race in late May. Consequently, very few vehicles dropped out, making 13th place entirely acceptable,” summarized Dominik Farnbacher.

Dominik and brother, Mario, who was celebrating his 24th birthday that Saturday, were in starting position 18. A few minor electronics problems that were quickly ironed out by the Farnbacher team prevented a final assault with new tires in qualifying.

The main goal of this race was to optimize the vehicle’s electronic control systems. Especially on the 24.358 kilometer Nürburgring Nordschleife, perfect interaction between the various systems, such as traction control, electronic shifting and ABS, can offer a decisive competitive edge. “That’s why we test here and compete on the world’s most demanding race track,” added Lexus Switzerland’s Hannes Gautschi. “This is the only place we can gather so much relevant data in such a short time.”

After a hard-fought, 4:06:52.107-hour pursuit, the Lexus RC F GT3 effortlessly passed the finishing line, securing Farnbacher Racing 13th overall position and an “SPX” class victory.

The fourth round of the VLN Endurance Championship at the Nürburgring will be held 25 June 2016.
