Hushed Start For Lexus RC F GT Prototype At VLN8
After exceeding the maximum permitted noise level and triggering a disqualification at the last race, Farnbacher Racing will be starting at the "48th ADAC Barbarossa Preis" – the 8th points-scoring race of the VLN Endurance Championship at the Nürburgring – with a modified exhaust system on its Lexus RC F GT prototype. Emil Frey Racing’s vehicle will not be contending this time.
Since the last race almost three weeks ago, the body shop lights at Farnbacher Racing were seldom extinguished. The Lichtenau-based team needed to build a new exhaust system in the shortest possible time. “Our centre of attention in the break between VLN7 and the coming race was to reduce the Lexus’s noise level. We made some modifications with our industry partners and TRD which we will be testing on Friday,” explains team manager Horst Farnbacher. As usual, brothers Dominik and Mario Farnbacher will be at the wheel of the Farnbacher Racing Lexus with starting number 55.
By contrast, the Emil Frey Racing sister car from Switzerland, with starting number 54, will not be contending this time: despite all efforts, damage caused in a serious accident at the VLN6 race but one could not be repaired in time to enable a rollout. The Safenwil-based team will nevertheless be attending and supporting Lexus’s international marketing activities. It will be presenting the RC F GT prototype in the framework of the “Pan-European Lexus Dealership Meeting”.
The four-hour race will start on Saturday, 24 September 2016 at 12:00h (CET), preceded by qualifying from 08:30h – 10:00h.
