Lexus Kicks Off Second Half Of The Season
The second half of this year’s VLN Endurance Championship season at the Nürburgring will commence this Saturday after a five-week summer break. Following the last race’s satisfying results, in which the Emil Frey Racing and Farnbacher Racing Lexus RC F GT3s both finished among the Top 10, the teams will again be aiming to gather valuable data at the “RCM DMV Grenzlandrennen”.
“Each individual race is an important element in the complex puzzle of our vehicle development,” explains racing driver Dominik Farnbacher who will once more be alternating with his brother Mario behind the wheel at VLN6. “This time, the data gathered during the previous race were analysed and fed back specifically into improving the car’s chassis, which we now hope will generate even more grip.”
This is also one of the goals of Swiss team, Lorenz Frey: “With respect to the components chassis, engine and aerodynamics, the Lexus RC F GT3 has now reached a competitive state. Great care and much detail work are now needed to squeeze the last tenth of a second out of the car and completely exploit its full potential.” In doing so, the Zurich resident will as usual be enthusiastically supported by veteran Monegasque Stéphane Ortelli.
The most recent results show that the development process is on the right track. With second place in qualifying and fourth place in the race, Farnbacher Racing proved that it has made it to the top echelons of the GT3 elite at the last race. Emil Frey Racing also enjoyed an impressive Top 10 finish, celebrating a countable result after much misfortune at the start of the season.
The sixth points-scoring meeting of the 2016 VLN Endurance Championship will be held on 20 August, starting 12.00h CET at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Rainy weather conditions are forecast for the 4-hour race, although things can quickly change on the circa 25 km circuit.
