Lexus starts with two RC F GT3s at the second VLN Race
For the first time in VLN 2016, Lexus will be starting with two RC F GT3s at the 41st DMV 4-Hour Race, the season’s second championship meeting. Besides Farnbacher Racing which had a good run at VLN 1, Swiss-based team, Emil Frey Racing, will also be taking to the stage.
“I’m thrilled to be back at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife,” says delighted driver Lorenz Frey (CH), who will be switching behind the wheel of the Emil Frey Racing Lexus RC F GT3 with Stéphane Ortelli of Monaco. “Time after time, the Nordschleife is always a wonderful challenge. We’re well prepared and looking forward to the 4-hour race.”
All the ten-meeting VLN Endurance Championship’s races are staged at the 24.358 km race track. Even today, 89 years after the first event, the “Grüne Hölle” hasn’t relinquished any of its fascination. The unique demands placed on man and machine therefore offer an ideal basis for the GT3 racer’s extensive development program.
A key element of success is the right tire supplier. The Emil Frey Racing team, which only completed a shakedown at VLN 1, will be cooperating closely with Dunlop with immediate effect. “We’re greatly looking forward to this cooperation and have great trust in Dunlop’s products and technical support,” says Lorenz Frey. “Especially on the demanding Nordschleife, an experienced and committed tire partner is imperative.”
The second Lexus RC F GT3 will be driven as usual by Dominik and Mario Farnbacher who started the series with an impressive pursuit and promising lap times. Once again, both teams aim to pass the finishing line with a best possible placement.
The race will start on Saturday, 30 April at 12.00h (CET). It will be preceded by qualifying from 08:30h – 10:00h which will determine the starting positions.
