Lexus Returns To The VLN5 Starting Line With Two RC F GT3
Lexus will once again be attending the fifth points-scoring meeting of the 2016 VLN Endurance Championship at the Nürburgring, the 56th ADAC Reinoldus Endurance Race, with two RC F GT3 racers. Brothers Dominik and Mario will be alternating behind the wheel of the Farnbacher Racing car, for Emil Frey Racing it will be business as usual with Lorenz Frey and Stéphane Ortelli.
For Emil Frey Racing, the 2016 VLN season’s fifth race will be something of a comeback. Following an accident in VLN2 late April, spare-part delivery bottlenecks and a date conflict with an event in Goodwood, the Swiss team was forced unable to attend the VLN3 and VLN4 meetings. All the greater, therefore, is the joyful anticipation of the upcoming race of the usual four hours.
“We’ve used the time to prepare intensively for the second half of the season,” explains Lorenz Frey. “During our test drives, we were able to make substantial progress and further optimize the setup for the new Dunlop tires and other vehicle components. We’re thus extremely optimistic about our trip to the Eifel hills, where we’re aiming for a Top 10 position.”
Farnbacher Racing has similar goals, too. “As at the previous race meetings, our main aim is to gather more data and to reach the finishing line,” says Dominik Farnbacher. “At VLN4, we were able to give a taste of the Lexus’s potential with our tenth starting position; we now want to transform the RC F GT3’s superb performance into a quantifiable race result.”
The fifth VLN points-scoring race at the Nürburgring will start on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at 12:00h CET, and be preceded by qualifying from 08:30 – 10:00h.
