One Lexus RC F GT3 At The Six Hour Race At The Nürburgring

Dominik and Mario Farnbacher will be starting together with Akira Iida of Japan at this Saturday’s ROWE Six Hour ADAC Ruhr Cup Race, the season highlight of this year’s VLN Endurance Championship at the Nürburgring. The Emil Frey Racing Lexus’s sister car will be taking time out following an accident during the last race.

Lichtenau-based Farnbacher Racing has brought in reinforcement in the form of Akira Iida of Japan for the six – rather than four – hour contest, the longest and seventh points-scoring race of this year’s VLN season. “Akira is currently driving the Lexus RC F GT3 in the Japanese SuperGT Championship and already lent us his support last year. He has an enormous amount of experience and we’re extremely eager to find out what he has to say about the differences between the two cars in Germany and in Japan,” says Dominik Farnbacher.

The team already had a successful warm-up run last weekend when Dominik Farnbacher, together with Akira Iida and Hiroki Yoshimoto, effortlessly completed the 1000 Kilometre Race in Suzuka with a structurally identical Lexus RC F GT3, securing important championship points for the Japanese LM Corsa team.

Emil Frey Racing’s sister car, on the other hand, will unfortunately be forced to take time out: “Following the accident at the last meeting, it was impossible to repair the car on time at such short notice. We’re still in the phase of developing the Lexus RC F GT3 so we don’t have a massive spare parts inventory at our disposal,” explains Lorenz Frey, team manager and driver of the Emil Frey Racing Lexus. “We therefore decided to give the Six Hour Race a skip and concentrate on preparing the car for VLN8.”

The event starts with qualifying on Saturday, 03 September 2016 from 08:30h to 10:00h (CET), followed by the actual race at 12:00h. For further information on Emil Frey Racing, please visit Opens external link in new window and Opens external link in new
